We are delighted to welcome you and your child to Year 5 and are really looking forward to the year ahead. Year 5 is an exciting time, with lots of opportunities for the children to build their confidence, become more independent and develop a real enthusiasm for their learning.  This page will be a place where you can find useful information about our learning, important updates and ways you can support your child at home. Here's to a fantastic year ahead!

HOMEWORK

We have weekly homework for Year 5 to embed learning in the following areas:

• Reading – Please encourage your child to read at least 10 minutes daily. If you could ensure that your child brings their reading book to school every day. 
• Spellings – Weekly spellings are given out every Monday, alongside a weekly test. We will also share the spellings via seesaw. The children can practice the spelling via the ‘Spelling Shed’ app, for which your child has an individual login.
• Times Tables – We also encourage the use of the ‘TT Rockstars’ app, which allows your child to learn times tables in a fun way. Again, your child has an individual login for this.

If you are experiencing any problems using any of these apps, do not hesitate to contact us and we will help you out. For those children without access to a tablet, phone or computer, we provide extra opportunities during the normal school day.

HALF-TERM HOMEWORK GRID

Each half-term we will provide an additional homework grid, with a range of different activities that support the different subjects and learning that we will be covering. These activities are optional and can be completed anytime in the half-term. 

PE KITS

We have weekly PE sessions. Please come to school in your PE kit. Our PE days is Tuesday.

We believe working in partnership with parents is the best way for your child to feel safe and happy at school. No issue is ever too small, so do not hesitate to contact us. You can contact us either through Seesaw or at the end of the school day.
