Welcome to the class page for Year 3.

Dear Parents, Carers and Y3 pupils,

A very happy New Year to you all and welcome back to school. I hope you have all enjoyed the holidays and are looking forward to the year ahead.

We have many exciting things planned for our spring term, including our field trip to Barley, looking at the differences between life in a town and living in the countryside and in English, I am sure you will be fascinated to learn all about the ‘Green Children’, who seemingly appeared from out of nowhere – did they really come from another planet?

Remember to always try hard to do your very best and I am sure we will have a great 2023 together.

HOMEWORK

Weekly spellings to learn are given out on Monday and the test is given on Friday. You will also find the spellings on Edshed where the children will be able to practice their spellings online. Each child has been given their own unique login details.

We also encourage the use of the ‘TT Rockstars’ which allows your child to learn times tables in a fun way, again your child has an individual login for this.

Recently, we have set up, ‘Read Theory’ for your child to use at home which helps them with their comprehension and vocabulary skills- log in details are sent out via Seesaw.

If you are experiencing any problems using any of these programmes, please don't hesitate to contact us. For those children without access to a tablet, phone or computer, we will provide extra opportunities during the normal school day.

READING

In KS2, all children should have reading books in school every day, as staff listen to readers whenever possible. Reading books can be changed as often as needed. As reading helps in all areas of school life, encouraging your children to read at home has a big impact on their learning, so please support them.

PE

Year 3 P.E is on a Thursday. Please make sure your child has the correct clothing and footwear and that they are able to remove any jewellery. Children are permitted to come to school in their PE kits - please ensure that white t-shirt is worn underneath the school hoody.

REWARDS IN YEAR 3

In Year 3 we use the ‘lovely lottery’ as a reward system where the children are rewarded at the end of the week for working hard and trying hard, regardless of ability. Already we have had a selection of winners - well done!

WINTER MONTHS

As Spring creeps in and the weather changes, please provide appropriate clothing for play times.

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP

Here at Moor End, we believe that working in partnership with parents is the best way for your child to feel safe and happy at school. We have an open-door policy in Year 3 should you wish to discuss any matters individually. However, please remember that at the end of the school day, it may not be possible to talk to staff for any length of time and if this is the case, please make an appointment at the office.
