Admissions

SCHOOL ADMISSION

The admission number for reception is 30 children. These children are of age 4-5 years. Usually, the school can accommodate all children whose parents apply for a place.

If wanting to admit a child to another year group, please phone the school directly to see if we have a place.

Moor End follows the Lancashire County Council admission policy if the number of applicants exceeds the number of places. The criteria used for selection are:-

  • A brother or sister of a child already at the school when the younger child begins school.
  • A child whom the local authority accepts there are strong medical, social or welfare reasons for admission.
  • The remaining places will be allocated with reference to the distances between home and the nearest alternative school to the school preferred by the parents, at which as place is available, and between home and the school of the parents’ preference.
  • All enquiries related to places in our Rising Stars Class (SERF) should be directed to either our Headteacher or Claire Lunden, our Rising Stars teacher

Preschool Admissions

Your child can start our Preschool at the start of the first term after they have turned 3 years old. An application form is obtained directly from our school office. You do not need to inform the local authority as we manage our own admissions to our preschool provision.

If you are able to take advantage of the 30 hours provision you need to provide the appropriate code to do so. 15 hours of provision is available free of charge to everyone.

Please let us know in advance so we can monitor future places and you do not miss out.

The majority of our preschool children stay with us for the remainder of their primary school age, however, the preschool can also be used by anyone who needs a high quality provision for 12-18 months.

School appeals

If your child has been refused a place at one of your preferred schools, you may appeal the decision of the admissions authority.

Your reasons for appealing will then be considered by an independent panel at an appeal hearing. You will have the chance to attend the appeal hearing and present your case.
